I honestly enjoy using a small point and shoot getting as close to a subject as possible. That is not something I’m able to so with a big DSLR.

I think your view would benefit by cropping this down to that one area that is in focus, around the sprig of moss and the folds of water.

While I agree that cropping would improve this piece (Being a landscape layout instead) that sprig of moss actually isn’t the single focus – its the bit of ice next to it which looks boring in my opinion.
I wish I had paid more mind to the log/ used a different pov/focus, but this was only after I had began processing the images I realized my mistake.
